Raven Moss Swimming Club is run and operated entirely by volunteers, who have a psssion for providing swimming instruction for communities within the area and beyond.
Raven Moss is affiliated to Swim Northwest and the Amatuer Swimming Association (ASA)
All instructors are either ASA level 1,2 or 3 qualified and posses a NPLQ qualifications (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification), and have up to date DBS disclousers and checks (previously CRB checks). They have also attended recent Safeguarding Children Courses.
Raven Moss is a learn to swim club, which means priority is given to teaching pupils how to swim safely and confidently.
We are not a competitive swimming club, even though we do encourage healthy competition and have taken part in some friendly competitions.
Anyone of our members who wish to train as a competitive swimmer, will be encouraged to do so, and we will do what we can to help.
At present we have swimmers who train with other competitive swimming clubs.
The Club welcomes members from four years of age.
We aim to assess and award the students every ten weeks, using the critia from the National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS).
As each student is different, some may take a little longer to achieve the required results.
Swimmer of the Term
As well as the NPTS awards, Raven Moss encourage a swimmer of the term award. This award is decided by the instructors, and is awarded to the three students who are deemed to have made the most effort, progress and set a good example for other students each term.
We do a limited, social instructor led session for adults.
